Huge palm trees line many of the streets and many famous movie and TV productions have been shot here including "Born Losers", "Dog Whisperer" and "Real Housewives of OC". HB is home to the International Surfing Museum. An 8.5 mile bike path borders the Pacific Ocean and is suited for jogging, walking, bicycle riding and people watching. This city has the longest municipal concrete pier in California, almost 9 miles of sand beaches, great climate and some of the best surfing in the United States. HB is one of America's top ten safe cities. "Surf City" is close to John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, Long Beach Airport and Los Angeles International Airport. There are several world class hotels and resorts, hundreds of restaurants and lots of shopping. An outdoor craft and food market is held at Pier Plaza on Fridays and there are free summer concerts, volleyball, fishing and bonfires. Disneyland, California Adventure and Knotts Berry Farm, are all within 15 miles. You can also visit nearby Catalina Island. No alcohol is allowed on the beach except by special permit.The RV camping numbers are: City Beach--Sunset Vista 714-536-5280 State Beach--Bolsa Chica 714-846-3460 or 800-444-7275 (call for reservations information). Bonfires are allowed in fire pits at Bolsa Chica State Beach and State Beaches south of the pier. Weddings are allowed by permit on the beach. Beach hours: Huntington City Beach: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., State Beaches: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Huntington Pier: 5 a.m. to Midnight. |
